Botes Memory Method – January 2021

Wednesday, December 23, 2020

As we head into 2021 it is customary for many of us to decide our New Year’s resolutions. It is a time of renewal, reaching for our dreams and setting fresh goals. However, for the caregivers of our loved ones living with dementia, New Years resolutions may seem like a farfetched idea. Being a full-time caregiver may cause feelings of being overwhelmed, feeling burdened and even experiencing burnout. Acknowledging the challenge is the first step in planning to overcome it.
If you are recognizing negative changes in your mood, and in your tolerance and ability to deal with day-to-day challenges, you may be experiencing symptoms of burnout.

It is essential that you identify areas in you and your loved one’s life, where others may enter to offer assistance, and offload stress. By allowing others to take on some of your tasks and responsibilities you are creating either mind space to rest and reset, or pockets of time for self-care. Both of these are invaluable and necessary for you to continue to be the best caregiver you can be.
At the Botes Memory Method, in partnership with our trained Concierge Home Care clinicians, we take the caregiver burden very seriously.

We are committed to support you as you and your loved one navigate through 2021. We can assist you in healthcare decisions, and care planning so that you can navigate successfully through the new year. Contact us for information on our monthly support groups, educational trainings and to set your loved one up with an in-home assessment that is 100% covered by Medicare. We will provide you with tangible resources to reach your loved one through our Memory Bouquet. Allow us to walk with you into, and through 2021! Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed new year!
