April 2023- The Value of Nutrition in Brain Health

Tuesday, April 4, 2023

Did you know that your nutrition plays a valuable part in brain health? According to The Cleveland Institute there are 6 pillars of brain health with nutrition and hydration being one of those important pillars.

Anti-oxidants are the nutritional components needed by cells to support cell health, and help repair cell damage including nerve cells found in the brain.

Examples of anti-oxidant rich foods are:

  • Fresh leavy greens
  • Citrus
  • Various nuts
  • Berries
  • Healthy oils such as fish/olive/coconut/avocado
  • Dark chocolate (70% or higher Cocoa)

Let’s get creative with our snacks and treats as we celebrate spring in support of our brain health.

How about a fresh smoothie with fresh Kale, strawberries, blackberries, a natural sweetener such as Monk fruit, Greek yoghurt and Oat milk? With a side of fresh nuts? Just some food for thought! Happy Spring!
