Brain Health is a very important topic that we need to talk about more. Here at Botes Memory Method we value your brain health and our team have multiple strategies to help you be the best version of you! Understanding brain health may be a complex issue but let’s break it down into 4 basic challenges:

  1. inflammation (usually caused by a disease process and may be accompanied by pain, may be impacted by poor lifestyle choices such as poor diet or smoking or alcohol use)
  2. Chronic stress (such as depression/anxiety, life changes or chronic illness causes increased cortisol in our cells that impairs function)
  3. Harmful chemicals (including medicine/what we eat/drink/smoke or are exposed to in our environment will build up in our cells thus limiting cell health)
  4. Injury to the brain (sports/accidents or even pathologies such as strokes)

You may be asking: What can I do?

Here are a few quick tips and solutions that you can add to your day:

  • Increase your water intake to ½ your body weight in ounces
  • Add antioxidants to your daily diet (lots of fresh fruit and veggies)
  • Add 30 min of cardio to your day (increase the oxygen to your cells which supports cell health)
  • Evaluate your sleep: you need 7-9 hours of quality sleep a night
  • Add brain game challenges to your day as well as time for meditation and prayer
  • Invest time in quality relationships

Not only will you have more energy, but your brain will stay sharper for longer!
